There is now a short demo video posted below. The guitar is played through a 5 watt tube practice amp with a 10" Jensen early breakup speaker for a natural overdrive/fuzz.
I currently have a similar double cutaway 24 fret version found here:
http://reverb.com/item/99999-gronlund-guitars-custom-solid-brass-topped-guitar-semi-hollow-handbuiltI am the builder and seller of this guitar which was built during March of 2014. Many more examples of my work can be found at
As
with all of my instruments, this guitar is fully handcrafted and
designed by myself. All elements, with the exception of pickups and and
some hardware such as tuning keys, are handcarved and crafted in my
shop. I handcarve all necks from kiln dried hardwoods using traditional
method. Pickguards and shaped metal tops are all handcrafted as well.
The combination
of the aluminum top with the hardwoods gives this guitar unique tone. It is crisp and sharp without loosing low end response. The seymour duncan ensure that this tone is well captured. The SSL-4 quarter pound pickup in the bridge is similar in sound to a P-90 and is high in output. It has sharp highs and a full midrange and low end. It's just a very big and powerfull sounding single coil - almost humbucker like, but sharper and more focused. The Custom Mini Humbucker in the neck has a full bodied higher output jazz/blues tone. It is capable of glassy tones and sharp accents but I would not describe it as jangley or twangy. To my ears it is a great high output jazz/blues pickup in the neck position on this guitar.
The fat quarter sawn chambered neck carve is
smoothly finished with a satin thin polyurethane. This neck chambering
reduces a little weight and increases sustain and tone.
I have very high standards for my guitars and
offer boutique small shop completely unique instruments. If you are
not fully satisfied with the guitar upon purchase, you may return
it for a full refund minus original shipping cost.
I don't
avoid small knots and unusual figuring in the hardwoods that I use. I
embrace these types of natural formation and incorporate them into my
building. A glance through the photo gallery will show many of these
small unique spots. I enjoy the rustic quality that they add to a piece
of work.
