Our users rate Reverb
Mighty special A-5 Special from Northfield mandolins. This fine example features excellent appointments, premium woods (one piece back!), and an excellent setup combined with a powerful voice.
Master grade Italian Spruce top, premium Maple back/sides/neck in a dark burst, spirit varnish finish with single-ply tortoise bound top and 2-ply (w/b) headstock. Radius Ebony fretboard, 1-1/8" nut width, parallel tone bars, Gotoh tuning gears with black buttons, Nuggett cast tailpiece and an abbreviated tortoise style pickguard.
Lovely sound featuring a woody, warm tone with complex overtones and excellent sustain and volume combined with balanced response. A powerful mandolin. Strong chop. A bluegrass beast.
Excellent overall condition. The top shows relatively light playwear with some dings and very light scratches. Back has a small finish scuff and headstock has a couple string scratches.
Includes Airloom Recurve case.
