This 1999 PRS Custom 24 Artist Model in Dark Cherry Sunburst is a gorgeous example of what made these late-'90s PRS guitars so special. The highly figured curly maple top is absolutely loaded with flame, running across nearly the entire body with a beautiful transition from golden amber into deep cherry red. It's one of those tops that looks incredible from just about every angle, especially when the light catches the figuring.

The Artist appointments really bring everything together. The colorful abalone bird inlays, natural wood-faced headstock with its inlaid PRS signature, and gold hardware complement the finish beautifully. There's something about these older PRS guitars that has a character all their own, and this one certainly has the looks to match.

Playability is excellent. The neck has a comfortable amount of depth, measuring 22.4mm at the first fret and 24.9mm at the twelfth. A recent full setup and fret polish have the action sitting nice and low, and the frets feel exceptionally smooth. Intonation is spot-on, making this an effortless guitar to play.

The original pickups deliver a particularly bright, articulate sound, and the original rotary pickup selector operates flawlessly. All electronics have been tested and function correctly. The original PRS tremolo and tuners are also operating smoothly. Weighs 8.3 lbs on my scale.

Condition is Excellent, especially considering its age. There are a couple of small dings on the body, some light finish scratches, and one small chip on the headstock. Otherwise, it's been kept remarkably clean. The glossy finish still has its beautiful depth and shine without the hazing you sometimes encounter on older PRS guitars. No breaks, repairs, finish checking, or cracks.

Includes the original PRS hard case.
