Nortronics 9209 Professional series - NOS Sealed 1/4" tape head
Our users rate Reverb
The Nortronics 9209 2-channel 1/4" head is a low-impedance (160 Ω @ 1kHz, 26 mH inductance) professional-grade head featuring Nortronics' legendary "Duracore" all-metal hyperbolic face. These high-durability cores are engineered to last up to 10 times longer than standard permalloy heads, maintaining pristine frequency response and minimal tape friction over an extended operational lifespan.
The included QK-91 mounting block adapter is specifically designed to correctly align, height-adjust, and tilt the head to fit perfectly into the factory head nests of classic vintage decks, making it a drop-in solution for studio machines like the Ampex AG-440, Scully 280, or for adapting/upgrading older Ampex 350, 351, and 600 series recorders.
Condition:
Both the 9209 tape head and the QK-91 mounting block are true New-Old-Stock (NOS) and remain factory sealed in their original packaging. Pristine cosmetic and mechanical condition. 4 of each head and kit are available.
