dbx 166XL Dual Compressor / Limiter / Gate
Up for sale is a used dbx 166XL, a classic two-channel dynamics processor that’s been a staple in studio racks and FOH rigs for years. It sounds musical right away and is easy to dial in.
Features:
- Two channels of compression, limiting, and expander/gating, usable as dual mono or stereo-linked with the Stereo Couple switch
- Classic dbx OverEasy soft-knee or hard-knee compression
- Variable ratio from 1:1 to ∞:1
- Auto mode for program-dependent attack and release, so you get great results with minimal tweaking
- PeakStop limiter on each channel to catch transients
- Program-adaptive expander/gate with smooth release that won’t chop off reverb tails or note decays
- Sidechain insert on each channel (great for de-essing or ducking)
- Balanced XLR and 1/4" TRS inputs and outputs
- LED metering for gain reduction plus compressor and gate threshold status
- 1U rack chassis (19" W x 1.75" H x 6.75" D), 5.05 lbs
