This is a 1939 Gibson rare HG-00. It is the Hawaiian version of an L-00. The original stringnut has been replaced with a standard-height string nut, and the action has been lowered so that it plays like a normal guitar. The fretboard width is 1 15/16 inches at the stringnut, and the modified 'V-shaped' neck depth is 1 inch at the first fret, and the 6th string height is 1/8-inches at the 12th fret. So, this is perfect for fingerpickers. The neck joins the body at the 12th fret, so the long body and the placement of the bridge give a rich, full sound.

There are two hairline cracks on the body that have been professionally glued, and the guitar has no cracks on the neck or headstock, and has never had a neck reset. 'Gibson' is silkscreened in the pre-war style script on the headstock. All hardware is original: the tuners and the really cool pre-war firestripe pickguard. The brown chipboard case appears to be 1950s vintage and has working hinges and latches.
