Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass 2003 - Japan
Fender 2003 Aerodyne Jazz Bass - Japan
FENDER AERODYNE JAZZ BASS (JAPAN MFG. NO. 025-4500/4505)
This is one of the original Aerodyne series.
Description: “The Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass was first introduced at the NAMM Show in 2003. It is equipped with a split single-coil 'p-bass' pickup at the mid position and a single-coil j-bass pickup at the bridge position. This bass is fitted with one volume knob per pickup, plus a master tone knob. The body outline is shaped like the Jazz Bass, though substantially lighter. It's also slightly thinner than a traditional Jazz Bass body, due to its unusual 39 inch top radius unique to the Aerodyne series. The radius of the top means that the bridge is actually inset slightly into the top of the body. The Aerodyne Jazz Bass has a standard 1.5-inch nut width, a very slim C-shaped neck and 20 medium jumbo frets.”

Fender hard case
I love the Fender Aerodyne bass series. The designs are cool and the craftmanship is superb. This specimen is nicely aged and the Seymour Duncan BassLines pickups are a great upgrade. I have it strung with D’Addario Chromes flatwound strings, and the tone is sweet. The setup is good, and I have played it in church.
The condition is very good. What is less than excellent is the wear and tear of a used 23 year old instrument. There are numerous scratches, small dings, and scuffs in the clearcoat on the top, sides, and back, which are visible upon close inspection. The only wear through the paint is two tiny dents on the headstock edge which are touched up to not show. There is also a small square black sticker above the E tuner which I have left. The neck and frets are in excellent condition.
The Fender hard case is functional but has issues. It is cracked at the top end, and I have covered the crack with gaffer tape. The case also has a weird bow (see pictures). It will securely close with enough pressure.
