GOLDEN ERA BUFFET R13 Fresh Professional Overhaul • No Cracks • Exceptional Condition

Offered for sale is a Buffet Crampon R13 in Bb, serial number 95xxx, manufactured in 1967, during what many players and technicians consider the Golden Era of R13 production.

By the 60s, Buffet had fully refined the poly-cylindrical bore design that made the R13 the global standard for professional clarinet playing.

R13 clarinets made between the 1960s and early 1980s are most wanted for their characteristic warm yet focused sound and stable intonation.

Well-preserved examples from this era that have been properly overhauled and remain crack-free are becoming increasingly difficult to find.

There are no cracks, tenons are square, tight, and fit well (see photos) 

This one-owner R13 underwent a complete professional overhaul:

• Body cleaned and treated with sweet almond oil
• All keys removed, cleaned, and checked  for excessive play and corrected as needed
• Tone holes inspected and resurfaced as needed (crucial step, required to achieve perfect pad sealing)
• New Gore-Tex Buffet-style pads throughout (a beveled cork pad in the register key)
• New tenon corks and key bumpers
• Keys opening height/venting and spring tension carefully adjusted for optimal response, tuning and playability 

This is a true example of a fully restored R13:

• No cracks
• Chimneys and tenons in excellent condition
• Minimal plating wear
• Mechanically tight and ready to play immediately

The tone is resonant, clear and focused, with excellent projection and even response -typical for R13s from the end of 60s.

This R13 would make a perfect first professional clarinet for a student and/or advanced amateur, or an excellent back-up for a professional musician.

 Comes in original Buffet attache-style case in good used condition.
