Mytek 192 x 8 AD and DA converter has 8 analog channels in and 8 analog out. 8 channels of digital in and out are also here along with six clock outputs for synchronizing multiple digital units. This unit also has a very nice headphone output and master (balanced XLR) outputs making it a very nice 5.1 or 7.1 surround recording and playback system. Mytek is based in NY and no longer makes pro audio ADC/DAC (they were made in EU: Poland) but still sell very high-end consumer HiFi gear such as class-D amplifiers and DACs (such as the Liberty and Brooklyn series). This particular unit has the newest firmware version which supports both of the DIO cards that are installed and included: (1) ProTools HD (not the HDX) and (2) FW DIO which has a built in low-latency mixer that allows you to use the 192 x 8 as an 8 in 8-bus mixer. Included in the sale are a Lacey FW800 card (good for getting FW into a windows system) and an apple thunderbolt to FW800 adapter (with a nice long FW400 cable and FW800 to FW400 converter). Basically these are included if you want to use the 192 x 8 as an audio interface. To use with AES800 you don't need to make use of those cables. The Protools HD card is selling on reverb for ~200 currently and the FW DIO cards have sold for ~400 in the past so this is not a bad deal! The Mytek 192x8 is heavy and built with a really nice power supply, components and most likely sounds better than what you are currently using.
