Roland Juno 106 – Recently Serviced.

This Juno 106 was used by the Techno/Dub act ‘Active Loop Zone’ on the majority (if not all of their tracks).

Classic Synth loved and used by the ‘best’ Electronic Dance Acts: Chemical Brothers, Underworld, Orbital, Leftfield, William Orbit, Daft Punk..In fact, it would be easy to name good EDM acts who don’t use one. I don’t think Aphex Twin uses one as he probably designed and created his own version.

I think the Chemical Brothers still use it for their live act. They put it through a filter so it so it sounds massive

It can be used for filthy bass lines or simply trippy chugging away

Of course, it can also make lovely sweeping sounds for ‘normal’ (non-dance) music such as George Michael (Last Christmas, Everything She Wants), Depeche Mode, New Order.

Note - The ex-Roland expert who serviced it ‘recommended’ to change the voice chips for the modern replacements that are available, but it sounds OK to my ears.

I think the cost of six Juno 106 replacement voice chips is around £150
