I am selling my extremely fine early version Gibson L5-S Custom With Embossed Deluxe pickups. These get confused with the L6 and L6S which these have nothing to do with. These were fine jazz electric guitars made with the best of everything Gibson had to offer at the time with artisanal exceptional craftsmanship. There’s also two versions of this with a later model having nearly identical features, but gold covered humbuckers. These early versions have more like a custom sort of a cleaner jazz P90 kind of proprietary pick up made by Bill Lawrence I believe. They sound like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir! with gold plating and gold plated trim plates embossed with the Gibson logo. As with most of these there is about 60 to 70% of the Gold plating left on the pickup covers which is better than most and same with the tailpiece. A little bit of minor pitting on the tailpiece like all of them at this age.

Also to be noted these are not light guitars typicall. This one is about 9 1/2lbs but there are many that are north of 10 and 11lbs so this one is of the better ones.

Original everything down to every last screw. This one has exceptional flaming in the top and the triple binding is perfect as are the fretwork and everything else for the most part. A couple of the tiniest dicks dings on the top edge, barely visible, but shown in the photos as best as possible. When I was absolutely jaw dropping, figuring and flame in the maple all throughout the back of the neck as well and back of the body and virtually everywhere nice and evenly. Picked with the nicest top I’ve ever seen on one of these!

No issues to speak of, no repairs, fixes or anything like that. It plays unbelievably well and is ready to go. The original 1972 Gibson Hardshell case in very good condition for its age comes with it. This is an exceptionally rare guitar in the earlier configuration. it’s a stunner and absolutely does not disappoint in anyway! Thanks for checking it out!
