2021 Crowfoot Model 4 PROTOTYPE. Made in Chula Vista, CA. One-piece khaya (African mahogany) body, khaya neck, pau ferro fretboard. Natural, slight amber tint, Emtech lacquer semi-gloss, open grain finish. EDS-1275 tailpiece, Schaller roller bridge, Gemini Mercury One soapbar humbuckers, Gotoh split-shaft tuners, polished bone nut. 24.562" scale length, 12" fretboard radius. The neck has a fat, Gibson 1950s style profile.

This was a prototype for the M4, built for my personal use. It's been played a lot, and at one point fell and dinged the neck (pictured, just a tiny finish ding along the edge of the fretboard/neck core seam, no structural damage) and caused a hairline crack in the body (pictured, starting in the lower cutaway and traveling toward the control panel). The crack has been glued and is solid now, but there is some finish marring in the lower cutaway (pictured). The pictured dark spots on the front and back of the body are not damage, they're a filled, small knot in the wood. It's a single piece body, and khaya is great guitar wood, very resonant. It's a great piece of wood, even with the knot and the repaired crack.

The Model 4 is a thin-bodied guitar, with a body about the same thickness as an SG. However, the body is a bit longer than an SG and balanced differently so there's no problem with neck dive and it's comfortable to play sitting or standing. With the thin body and deep forearm contour, it's very comfortable to play. It's also quite light, at 7 lbs.

The Schaller bridge is really cool, with roller saddles and adjustable string spacing. Very nice hardware. The Mercury One humbuckers are awesome, with big, big sound. Very much classic 1970s PAF tone. Sensitive and expressive and not super-hot. This guitar feels kinda like a Fender Mustang, and sounds like a Les Paul.
