Marshall
Silver Jubilee 2555 – 100W Full Stack – 1988 – Ex-Snow Patrol / Metropolis Studios
Head Serial Number: 07984
Year: 1988
Specification: SEM Export Model
Matching Cabinets: 2551A & 2551B
Speakers: 8× Celestion G12T-75 – Matching DV13 Date Codes
A superb 1988 Marshall Silver Jubilee 2555 100-watt full stack, complete with its matching 2551A angled and 2551B straight 4×12 cabinets, all presented in very good condition.
This particular stack also has an interesting history, having belonged to Snow Patrol before finding its way to Stand Alone Productions at the iconic Metropolis Studios in Chiswick, West London.
The amplifier is believed to have been associated with guitarist Nathan Connolly, who is well known for his use of Marshall Silver Jubilee amplifiers. While we cannot independently confirm which member of Snow Patrol originally used the amplifier, its reported connection to the band and subsequent documented association with Stand Alone Productions make this a particularly interesting example.
Originally introduced in 1987 to celebrate Marshall's 25th anniversary, the Silver Jubilee quickly established itself as one of the most desirable amplifiers Marshall ever produced.
The 2555 is the full-powered 100-watt version, delivering the unmistakable Jubilee tone — thick, harmonically rich overdrive, powerful midrange and exceptional sustain, with the flexibility of switchable rhythm and lead modes.
Finding a complete period stack is increasingly difficult, particularly one retaining all eight matching Celestion speakers.
Complete Silver Jubilee Full Stack
The stack comprises:
- Marshall Silver Jubilee 2555 – 100W Head
- Marshall 2551A – Angled 4×12 Cabinet
- Marshall 2551B – Straight 4×12 Cabinet
Both cabinets retain their matching sets of Celestion G12T-75 speakers, with all eight carrying the same DV13 date code.
These are the correct type of speakers for the standard 2551-series Jubilee cabinets, delivering the tight bottom end, clear top end and powerful projection associated with a classic Marshall full stack.
SEM Export Specification – Multi-Voltage Transformer
This particular 2555 is an SEM export-specification amplifier, featuring a period DEC C2723C output transformer and 789-63 transformer dated January 1988. Most notably, it does not have an external mains voltage selector on the rear panel. However, the amplifier is fitted with a multi-tap mains transformer, allowing the mains voltage configuration to be changed internally by a qualified engineer.
For international customers, our engineer can configure the amplifier for the appropriate mains voltage before shipping, including 110/120V operation for North America where supported by the transformer.
Recently Professionally Serviced
The head has recently undergone a professional service by Dave Wittering of Prestige Amp Servicing, former Marshall senior service engineer.
The work was completed in October 2026 and included:
- Preamp smoothing capacitor can replaced
- Input socket replaced
- All six rear-panel sockets replaced
- Middle EQ potentiometer replaced
- Presence potentiometer replaced
- Complete set of four output valves replaced
- Professional inspection and operational testing
Classic Silver Jubilee Tone
The 2555 Silver Jubilee is one of Marshall's most celebrated amplifier designs, offering a distinctive variation on the classic British high-gain sound.
Its switchable rhythm and lead modes provide everything from bold, articulate cleans and classic Marshall crunch through to thick, saturated overdrive with exceptional sustain.
The Jubilee has a particularly rich midrange character, with a smoother and more compressed response than the traditional JCM800 2203.
The High/Low power switching allows the amplifier to operate at either 100 watts or approximately 50 watts, providing additional flexibility.
Paired with the matching G12T-75-loaded cabinets, the result is a huge, authoritative Marshall sound with excellent projection and definition.
