ReVox PR99 MkII 2-Track 3.75 / 7.5 IPS Pro Serviced 1/4" Open Reel Tape Deck

ReVox PR99 MkII Professional 2-Track Reel-to-Reel – Serviced – Excellent

Offered here is a very nice example of the celebrated ReVox PR99 MkII, a professional-grade, two-track stereo reel-to-reel tape recorder designed for demanding broadcast and studio applications.

Manufactured in West Germany by Willi Studer GmbH, the PR99 series represents the professional development of ReVox's highly regarded tape recorder designs, combining precision engineering, rugged construction, sophisticated transport controls, and excellent recording and reproduction capabilities.

This example is in excellent overall cosmetic condition, with only light signs of age and use. More importantly, it has recently undergone professional servicing, with documentation detailing the work performed.

Professional Service and Maintenance

The machine was recently evaluated and serviced by a Milwaukee Vintage, September 2026. The following work was performed:

• Replaced multiple defective capacitors on the control and driver boards.
• Installed a replacement pinch roller.
• Repaired the Channel 2 VU meter using a replacement meter movement within the original housing.
• Replaced the VU meter illumination lamps.
• Performed calibration and alignment checks.
• Completed general cleaning and inspection.

The technician's service documentation accompanies the machine and provides a record of the problems identified and corrective work performed.

Important note regarding the Channel 2 VU meter: The original meter movement was internally damaged and was replaced with a substitute movement, retaining the original meter housing. This repair is specifically documented by the servicing technician. The replacement is not an original ReVox meter movement.

Features and Specifications

The PR99 MkII offers an impressive array of professional recording and transport facilities, including:

• Professional two-track stereo recording and reproduction.
• ¼-inch magnetic tape format.
• Two operating speeds: 3¾ and 7½ inches per second.
• Three-motor, direct-drive transport.
• Electronic tape counter and locator functions.
• Variable-speed operation.
• Balanced XLR line inputs and outputs.
• Independent recording level controls and illuminated VU meters.

Unlike four-track consumer stereo machines, this is a two-track recorder, intended for professional-format stereo recording and playback. It is not designed for conventional quarter-track prerecorded stereo tapes.

Condition and Accessories

The machine presents very nicely, with light cosmetic wear consistent with its age and professional heritage.

A detachable AC power cord is included.

The Maxell reels and tape used for demonstration are not included.

The photographs and video are an important part of the description and should be reviewed carefully.

An excellent opportunity to acquire a professionally serviced example of one of ReVox's most respected broadcast-oriented tape recorders.
