Trident Audio Developments A-Range 2-channel Microphone Preamp and EQ
Our users rate Reverb
This Trident Audio Developments A-Range is a 2-channel microphone preamp and 4-band EQ in mint condition. I bought it from Vintage King in early 2026, and it has been well cared for since. It is a rackmount version of the legendary Trident A-Range console, built around the same all-discrete, transistor-based circuitry developed by Malcolm Toft and Barry Porter. That is the sound behind countless records from the early ’70s onward. Each channel has a transformer-balanced signal path and a mic/line preamp with switchable 48V phantom power. The EQ includes the classic inductor-based low-mid and high-mid bands. A selectable pre/post-EQ insert and LED peak meters between sections make gain-staging easy.
It comes complete with the original packaging, manual, power cable and all included accessories, so it is well protected for shipping and ready to rack the day it arrives. Only 13 of the original A-Range consoles were ever made, so this is one of the few practical ways to get that sound in a modern studio. It works equally well for tracking through a DAW or to tape.
