Fender Japan Stratocaster ST72-55, 1980s, E-Series, New Frets, Fully Restored
Fender Japan Stratocaster ST72-55, made in the mid-1980s, E-series (serial number: E616813). This guitar comes from the early era of Fender Japan production – a period highly regarded by Fender enthusiasts for producing exceptionally well-made instruments that could easily compete with their US-made counterparts.
The ST72 is Fender Japan’s take on the 1970s CBS-era Stratocaster. It features the characteristic oversized headstock and bullet-style truss rod adjustment – a practical solution for those who prefer easy access at the headstock rather than having to adjust the truss rod at the body end. The maple neck has a comfortable oval profile, while the 7.25" fingerboard radius delivers that unmistakable vintage Fender feel.
The original white finish has aged beautifully over the years and has now developed a warm creamy tone that looks fantastic alongside the ambered maple neck. Vintage through and through ;)
The electronics are original, except for the volume pot, which has been replaced with a CTS. The pickups are 3 × ST-Vintage Japan single-coils. The guitar has clearly been played in over the years and resonates beautifully, delivering a deep, slightly warm tone.
The instrument has undergone a comprehensive inspection and restoration. The frets have been replaced with new ones. The finish, plastic parts and metal hardware have all been polished, while the entire electronics have been inspected and serviced.
There are only a few very minor marks on the body. Considering the guitar’s age, it is in very good condition, as you can see in the photos.
We fitted a fresh set of 9–42 strings, performed a complete setup, and the guitar is ready to play.
A new hard case shown in the photos is also available for purchase separately upon request.
Every instrument purchased from SOUNDSIDERS comes with a product card alongside the proof of purchase. The card includes the instrument’s specifications as well as a detailed list of the restoration and service work we carried out.
Our instruments are carefully packed in sturdy cardboard boxes with plenty of protective padding, so you can be confident that your instrument will arrive safely.
A sales receipt is provided with every purchase, and a VAT invoice is also available upon request.
