The Yamaha SA-50 in Alga Green

A favorite among many 1960s GS (Group Sounds) band guitarists, the SA-50 from Yamaha was produced during what could be considered the dawn of Japanese electric guitar production.

This particular SA-50 is in Alga Green and weighs 3.37kg.

Features include a hollow curly maple body with a double cutaway without a center block, a slightly thick 630mm scale maple neck, a rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets and distinctive block inlays. The
zero fret and roller-type adjustable bridge are also unique to this model as are the original humbucker pickups which are controled via a 3-way selector, volume, tone, and a pickup balancer. The feather-touch tremolo unit, known for its smooth operation, also has a distinctive feel, allowing you to enjoy a capable vibrato along with the resonant tone of the body.

As it was only produced from 1967 to 1974, this is a rare model that is crafted with Yamaha's meticulous and high-level technology, possessing an atmosphere and sound that modern guitars simply cannot replicate.

Appearance/Condition: There is some tarnishing of the parts, as well as scratches and other signs of use. There are cracks in the binding near both horns, and some warping in the pickguard. The previous owner's name is written on both sides of the pocket inside the case.

Frets: Approximately 70% remaining

Neck: Straight

Nut width: Approximately 42mm

String height: At the 12th fret: 1st string: Approximately 1.8mm / 6th string: Approximately 2.3mm

When examining a truss rod on a straight neck, we check that it can turn up to about 45 degrees in both directions. When we say the truss rod can be adjusted, we mean it can be adjusted up to 45 degrees. Anything beyond that risks damaging the instrument.
