The Jody Jazz HR* tenor mouthpiece is an ideal mouthpiece for an intermediate player looking to step up from their starter mouthpiece to play something that has a more lush tone from the get-go, and on top of that, to play a piece which offers more flexbility, control, and volume. The 7* tip opening is going to favor players with at least 2 years of playing experience, but it's not so wide a beginner couldn't learn on it either. If it's too wide, try using softer reeds. That said,

This piece has a very dark and flexible sound, with a super nice sub-tone that's really easy to access, which is of course the best part of playing the tenor saxophone... But besides the sub-tone and lush dark sound, it's just an overall versatile piece that can be played in a variety of ways to achieve most any sound you need on the tenor. But that said, it definitely does the velvety jazz thing extremely well.

There are 2 semi-noticeable streaks of markings on the inside of the mouthpiece presumably from someone using a wire brush on it without a rubber stopper to keep it from scratching the piece. However, they are purely cosmetic and don't affect playability in any way. Also, marks like these are commonly made from routine usage, so you might as well grab a used piece for 100 dollars cheaper, and land yourself an excellent step-up mouthpiece at a great price point!
