Description

Beautiful Santa Cruz Guitar Company D/PW (Pre-War Dreadnought), handcrafted in Santa Cruz, California, under the direction of renowned luthier Richard Hoover.

The D/PW is Santa Cruz’s interpretation of the legendary prewar dreadnoughts of the 1930s, combining traditional construction with the exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail that have made Santa Cruz one of the most respected boutique acoustic guitar builders in the world.

This guitar features a beautiful spruce top paired with richly grained rosewood back and sides, an elegant dark fingerboard and bridge, and a gorgeous high-gloss finish. Its understated vintage aesthetic reflects the classic prewar tradition.

The D/PW is known for its powerful low end, articulate midrange, sparkling highs, and exceptional dynamic response. These guitars are equally at home with flatpicking, fingerpicking, and strumming, offering the projection, balance, and rich harmonic complexity that Santa Cruz instruments are celebrated for.

Condition

I’m listing this guitar in Good condition to accurately reflect its cosmetic wear.

This is a beautiful example of a Santa Cruz D/PW that has been played, enjoyed, and appreciated. It is not a museum piece, but it certainly hasn’t been abused. It retains the beautiful appearance, craftsmanship, and character that make these guitars so special.

There are three areas of cosmetic wear worth noting:

• Upper bout (side): A visible scratch on the side of the upper bout, in the area you would see when looking down at the guitar while playing.
• Neck: An approximately 1.5-inch scratch on the neck near the 12th fret.
• Lower bout (side): A small area of discoloration on the side of the lower bout, not on the soundboard.
• I’ve included three close-up photographs showing this scratch clearly.
• These imperfections are disclosed for transparency and are reflected in the condition rating. Please review the detailed photographs to see exactly what you’re getting.

Price reflects imperfections. This is your chance to own one of these at a fairly discounted rate.

Overall, this is a beautiful, played-in example of a premium American-made acoustic guitar, with honest cosmetic wear consistent with an instrument that has been enjoyed rather than kept in the closet.
