The Custom 24 is the original PRS. Since its introduction, it has represented a unique option for discerning players and has defined PRS sound and playability.
Played by internationally renowned artists, professional musicians and aspiring guitarists, the Custom 24 features a figured maple top and mahogany back with a 24-fret mahogany neck and 25" scale with rosewood fingerboard. Featuring the patented PRS Gen III tremolo and Phase III butterfly button tuners, the Custom 24 is known for its playability, versatility and tuning stability.
The Custom 24 is equipped with PRS DMO pickups for treble and bass, volume and tone controls and a 5-position selector switch. The DMO (Dynamic, Musical, Open) pickups were personally designed by Paul Reed Smith and the PRS New Products engineering team. From our hands-on research into coveted vintage pickup models to advances in signal analysis and "tuning" technology, these pickups incorporate every detail of the knowledge PRS has gained over the past few years of research and development.
PRS DMO pickups have an "open" sound with vocal character, i.e. they offer clear, pleasant sounds over a wide frequency range (from bass to treble) in each pickup.
The Custom 24 is the PRS guitar par excellence. This iconic instrument was the first model that Paul Reed Smith introduced to the public at the first PRS Guitars Winter NAMM Show in 1985 and has been one of the best-selling models ever since.
