This 1979 Gibson Les Paul 25/50 Anniversary is in very good vintage condition. This instrument shows signs of play wear and age throughout including some small dings throughout, some finish checking, a few small marks around the nut area, some light scratches here and there, tarnishing of the gold plated hardware and some wear/gouging marks on the pickguard. In other respects this Les Paul Anniversary is a very nice, well played and killer looking example with a really cool and nicely aged original Natural finish. This guitar is mostly original but has seen a couple of changes throughout its years. These Les Paul 25/50 Anniversarys were equipped with 2 Gibson VII (Tar Back) humbucking pickups from the factory. The pickups in this example have been changed to a set of early 1980s Gibson Tim Shaw era Pat # Stamped humbucking pickups - these pickups have the impressed stamped base plate, an ink stamp and a plastic spacer with a non T-Top bobbin. The neck pickup cover is missing in action. The original mini toggle switch is still present but it is no longer wired into the circuit. The tuners are original but the tuner buttons have been replaced, the switch tip is a replacement and the volume and tone knobs have been replaced with an older set of gold reflector top knobs. The neck pickup volume knob has a chip in the skirt.

This Les Paul has a great feeling and highly figured 3 piece maple neck with a medium profile that tapers larger toward the 12th fret and a 1 11/16” nut width. This neck feels very similar to most late 1970s Gibson Les Paul Customs - It’s not super chunky but also not super thin. It tapers and has a bit of flatness in the center. The ebony fingerboard is very clean and super dark and it pairs nicely with the mother of pearl split block inlays. The original fret wire is in great condition and is free of any dents or divots. This guitar has been set up and it plays beautifully up and down the fingerboard with low smooth action and excellent intonation. The original TP-6 tailpiece works perfectly and the original bridge has no sag. 

This Les Paul sounds fantastic! The electronics have been cleaned and both Tim Shaw era Pat # stamped pickups deliver some incredibly woody hollow yet articulate vintage Les Paul tones. This guitar plugged strait into an old Marshall amp will put a grin on your face… I guarantee it! This thing sings with super nice organic bloom and 70s rock goodness!
