Here we have a pair of authentic Bill and Becky Lawrence L-609 single coil pickups. I bought these brand new off their website in November of 2015, right before they discontinued making them. I had read on their website that they were going to stop making them, so I decided to grab a pair. Technically these are pre-owned, but they’ve been sitting in the original Priority Mail shipping box, which has been inside a bigger box inside my closet ever since. They are completely unused, never mounted in a guitar.

These pickups can be a direct replacement for a humbucking pickup as they have the same size mounting ring. Mounting ring screws are not included.

The body of the pickup is 2.75 inches long, by 1.325 inches wide, and .825 inches tall. The lead wires are approximately 13 inches long; there is a black, white, and blue wire for each pickup. I asked Becky about the blue wire and she told me it was just an extra ground wire.

Since Bill didn’t believe in rating pickups using resistance, he used inductance values, rated in Henries. The bridge pickup is rated at 6.2 Henries, but I measured the resistance, which came out to 20.4k ohms; pretty powerful pup! The neck pickup is rated at 3.6 Henries which resistance measured at 9.78K ohms.

The sound of these pickups is said to be somewhere between a Jazzmaster and a P-90, I really can’t say as I’ve never heard them. Contrary to some popular beliefs, these are not a stacked humbucker, they are not tapped or split coil; just a straight ahead big single coil pickup.

Since these are unused and very rare, I’m asking $300 for the pair; I will NOT separate them to sell just one, they are sold as a set; very firm on this. I will not take anything in trade for these, just money. I’m pretty firm on the price due to the rarity of these pickups in unused condition. The pickups pictured are the ones for sale, comes with mounting rings, and adjustment screws with rubber spacers for height adjustment of the pickup.
