The Seymour Duncan Custom Shop "The Gilly" is a signature Telecaster bridge pickup built to capture the distinct, heavy blues-rock tone of ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons. Named after his wife, Gilligan Gibbons, and wound by the Custom Shop's legendary manager Maricela Juarez (MJ), this pickup modifies classic Tele characteristics for a smoother, thicker voice that easily handles modern high-gain amplification.

Sonic Profile & Performance

The Gilly utilizes a slightly under-wound coil with partially degaussed magnets. This combination alters the overall output structure to give it a distinctly rounder, warmer top end. While a traditional Telecaster bridge pickup is known for sharp, biting treble ("twang"), the Gilly emphasizes a fatter midrange and a smoother high frequency roll-off. It retains the immediate "snap" and "pop" dynamics expected of an ash- or alder-body guitar, but it eliminates harsh piercing frequencies. Because it is a stacked hum-canceling design, it stays completely quiet even when pushed by Texas-sized overdrive, fuzz, or high-gain rock channels
