- For sale is a fantastic Japanese classic from the golden era of Yamaha production — the Yamaha BB850 in a sleek Black finish. Made in Japan in March 1987 (Serial: 7J19065). In the Yamaha hierarchy, the 850 model was a premium bolt-on instrument positioned right below their flagship neck-through basses.
- Body: Selected Alder
- Neck: Maple with a very comfortable, slim profile (Jazz Bass style, 39mm nut width)
- Fingerboard: Rosewood
- Pickups: Original Yamaha Passive PJ Alnico layout (Controls: Volume, Balance, Tone)
- Scale Length: 34"
- Visual: Very Good cosmetic condition for a nearly 40-year-old vintage instrument. There are minor, honest surface scratches and light swirling/scuffs from normal use, but no major dings, cracks, or chips. [1, 2, 3, 4]
- Hardware: Features beautiful vintage patina/tarnish on the bridge and tuners. [1]
- Originality & Repairs: 100% original. No cracks, structural damage, touch-ups, or past repairs.
- Functional: Everything works perfectly. The truss rod turns smoothly, the neck is straight, the frets have plenty of life left, and the electronics are fully functional without any scratchy pots.
- The bass delivers that signature punchy Broad Bass mid-range cut that sits perfectly in any mix. Sounds resonant, plays incredibly fast, and looks amazing. Worldwide shipping available. The bass will be packed securely. Drop me a message if you have any questions!
