Epiphone Granada E444T, c 1966  |  $1850  |  (v2624)   Gibson purchased Epiphone in 1957, and used the brand as a less expensive option for some of its guitar offerings.  The Granada is essentially a Gibson ES-120T, which was the least costly thin-line guitar in the lineup, and manufactured in Kalamazoo factory with the same materials and workmanship as the main Gibson line.  In 1966 just over 400 units were made and a non-cutaway Granada would set you back $195, which was about two weeks pay for the average worker in '66!

The  'thin-line' body features a pressed maple top and back with mahogany sides.  The neck is mahogany with a rosewood fingerboard and features an adjustable truss rod.  The head stock is black enamel with the Epiphone logo in gold decal.  The molded white plastic pickguard is also the repository for the volume and tone controls and the input jack.  The 'floating' bridge adjustable and matched with a trapeze tailpiece.

The body measures 16" across at the lower bout.  Scale length is 24 3/4".  The neck is 1 5/8" across at the nut, with string spacing 2 1/8" at the saddle.  Action is set at 4/64".

This guitar is in .. dare we say .. near mint condition with no evident prior repairs.  We recently dressed the frets and that's it!  There is one tiny ding on the back, but nothing else to write home about.  We date this example to circa 1966 based on the serial number (which are often -ish for Gibson) and the head stock shape, which changed to this shape somewhere around '64.

A stellar survivor from the 'mod' sixties era!

Comes with a soft case from the period, maybe original?
