Rings is a 14HP resonator that's become one of the most beloved modules in Eurorack. It simulates resonating physical objects: modal bodies like bells and plates, sympathetic strings, and inharmonic strings. You can excite it with any audio source, or send a trigger to the strum input and let the internal exciter do the work. Polyphony can be set to 1, 2, or 4 voices, and the odd and even outputs give you a lush stereo spread. The frequency, structure, brightness, damping, and position controls, along with CV inputs and attenuverters, cover everything from plucked strings and tuned percussion to shimmering, bell-like textures. There's also a hidden "Disastrous Peace" mode for chord-based string ensemble sounds.

Mutable Instruments closed its doors in 2022. With so many clones on the market, original factory units like this are increasingly sought after.
