For sale is a mid 1960s Silvertone 1457 2 pickup guitar in red burst sparkle. Very Good Player Grade. It was made by Danelectro. It was modded to have a vibrato tailpiece and it has the Bigsby "rocker" pre-intonated bridge, mounted by 2 small rods with thumbwheel height adjusters. The original controls were changed to have 1 tone, 1 volume standard toggle switch NECK-BOTH- BRIDGE . Otherwise, mostly original.

Observations:

Very clean and bright appearance and tone. Neck is almost dead straight. Sighting down the right side of the neck is truly straight and the left side, a very minimal bow just near the nut. The bridge is correctly positioned for true intonation. There is NO wear on the fretboard and frets. The aluminum nut is perfect. Paint and white vinyl edge are near new though there is a small patch on the top, upper bout where a piece of tape may have been for a long time. ? The tuners and posts are excellent. The pickguard is clean and undamaged. There are minor white touchups a a few small nicks in the Formica pickguard surface. And there are very few minor marks, scratches.

Playing it, electronics and parts all work perfect - Dano pickups sounds. No issues and ready to play.

Key Details & Pricing Context

  • Guitar-Only Value: Listings for the guitar alone (such as historical or specialist vintage shop pricing like VintageSilvertones) generally hover around $799.

  • Features: 25-scale length, bolt-on poplar/maple neck, Brazilian rosewood finger board.
