This Clarinet is a lovingly used and maintained example of a the legendary
Hohner D6.
This particular model has the earlier preamp board which dates it to the first
few years of production. The action is not unlike that of the older vintage
Hammond “waterfall” key assembly and the consistency of this particular
key-bed, while softer than most modern instruments does not distract from
enjoying the incredible dynamic range and velocity sensitivity these
instruments offer.
While the instrument is around 50 years old, the wood work and tolex are in
good shape although a little wheathered, in places, likely due to the original
hard top case being lost. The original legs are strong and in tact. This
clavinet came from a recording studio where it lived for years. Both pickups
sound bold and totally unique from each other as they should. . The string
tension is even and natural feeling and the hammer tips have been adjusted
and strike evenly at the center of each string. The preamp is quiet and clear
and was rebuilt with new Wima capacitors, electrolytics, and input
transformer.

This Clavinet is ready to recreate the funk sounds of the seventies with all
the uniqueness and playing feel of a real handmade electromechancial
instrument that is so hard to replicate.
