New open box in store Sterling Music Man Axis 40 in gold.

• Body & Top: Built with a basswood (or lightweight jabon on modern exclusive reissues) body core. It features a bookmatched, highly figured quilted maple veneer top finished in a glossy Transparent Gold.
• Neck & Fretboard: Features a bolt-on hard maple neck and fingerboard with 22 frets, a 25.5-inch scale length, and a 12-inch radius.
• Asymmetrical Neck Profile: A standout feature of the Axis design is its unique asymmetrical neck shape. The neck is carved slightly thicker on the bass side and thinner on the treble side, naturally fitting the human hand to reduce fatigue and speed up lead playing.
• Neck Finish: The front of the neck uses a smooth oil or matte finish for a non-sticky, lightning-fast feel.

Electronics & Hardware

• Pickups: The guitar is equipped with a high-output dual-humbucker (HH) layout. Standard models feature two factory-engineered zebra-style alnico humbuckers designed for hot lead tones. (Note: A rare "AX40D" variant also exists, which shipped from the factory with genuine USA DiMarzio custom-wound Axis pickups).
• Controls: Emulating the minimalist style preferred by Van Halen, the control layout is simple: a single master volume control knob and a 3-way toggle pickup selector switch.
• Bridge: Outfitted with a heavy-duty, double-locking tremolo system (Floyd Rose style) paired with a locking nut to ensure tuning stability during aggressive pitch bends and dive bombs
