The Boss IR-2 Amp & Cabinet is an amp and cabinet simulator pedal launched in 2023, designed to deliver a guitar tone ready to be sent directly to a PA system, recording interface or headphones, without the need for a traditional amplifier. It offers 11 amp models inspired by classic amplifiers, including the Fender Twin Reverb, Fender Bassman, Vox AC30, Marshall Super Lead, Soldano SLO-100 and Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier, paired with Celestion Digital speaker simulations. Its Gain, Level, Bass, Middle, Treble and Ambience controls make it easy to fine-tune your sound, while stereo outputs, a mono/stereo effects loop and a headphone output make it highly versatile. The USB-C connection allows direct recording to a computer or mobile device and loading custom impulse responses (IRs) using dedicated software. Compact and easy to use, it is a practical solution for home studios, silent practice and live performance, offering 32-bit floating-point, 96 kHz audio quality. It also allows you to switch between two amp and cabinet configurations, making it an interesting alternative to bulkier modelling systems.
