A 1965 Brooklyn-built Gretsch Chet Atkins Tennessean 6119 in walnut that has aged beautifully.
This guitar came out of the original Gretsch factory in Brooklyn, NY, and at sixty years old it’s in great shape. Vintage Gretsch buyers know how hard it is to find one with clean binding and an untouched finish. This one has both.
Condition
- Light finish checking, as you’d expect from an honest vintage guitar
- Minimal checking on the heel cap
- Solid binding
- No major cracks or issues
- No refinishing
Look at other 6119s for sale. Compare them to this one and you’ll see binding and finish problems on them that this guitar doesn’t have. If this were a Custom Shop guitar, it would sit somewhere between a Closet Classic and a Light Relic.
Verified original finish
This guitar has been professionally inspected under a black light. No area has been refinished, and the walnut finish is original.
All original, all working
- All original hardware, and all of it works
- Original case, where the guitar has stayed for the last ten years
- Minimal fret wear, which shows how little this guitar has been played
Photos
The gloss finish can reflect light in ways that look like flaws or hide real details. I photographed the guitar in a variety of lighting conditions so you can see its true condition. If you have questions about anything in the photos, please ask.
Included: a non-Gretsch guitar strap that works with this guitar’s unique strap buttons.
Clean, original 1960s Brooklyn Gretsches don’t come up often, so if you’ve been waiting for one, send a message or make an offer.
