Gibson Les Paul Custom 1959 R9 Reissue! Historic Makeovers Deluxe! Brazilian Rosewood Fingerboard

This amazing instrument started life as a 2007 Gibson Custom Shop R9

in 2016 it was sent to Historic Makeovers for the Deluxe Package.

Historic Makeovers is an amazing establishment that takes guitars and perfectly recreates them to vintage specs And allows you to customize your packages! this one got the granddaddy package, the deluxe with additional aging and the pups. A $4500 package on it's own (and that was 10 years ago) now this package is closer to 6k with the additions. I’ve owned this guitar since 2018 and it was my number 1 for many years. Its a magical guitar. right now I’m using single coils now for most of my projects (not of my own free will just how it sits in the mix. I just don’t get the chance to play her as much as I should and she deserves to be played. This will be your favorite guitar. It’s still mine. i just don’t get a chance to play it.

This guitar includes an "Age Package" ($450) a Vintage Correct Package ($700) and a Logo Replacement ($500)! It has Throbak KZ-115 PAF ($600) pickups! The Brazilian rosewood fingerboard is very dark and beautiful. Frets have a few years of hard playing in them.

In addition to the deluxe package at Historic Makeovers this guitar received a bone nut. Grover tuners, however I didn’t fill the holes so you can reinstall Klusons if you want. I purchased a brand new (aged) set of klusons from Historic Makeovers and will include them in the sale should you want to switch back. The Grover’s have been on her for 8 years now so its likely you’ll have rings. I also Installed Seymour Duncan 500k pots. The CTS ones it came with were getting scratchy and I wanted to upgrade. It also has Luxe Capacitor .022mF and .015mF paper in oil bumblebee caps. The .022/.015 is what’s called the woman tone (Clapton). Again they’re a bit of an upgrade but not much they use bumblebees too just not the luxe ones.

I will ship this in the original Lifton case If you want. However, I’d prefer to ship it in the more durable Gator case pictured. We could work out a price if you’d prefer that. basically I’ll damn near give you the gator case for free to ensure it arrives there safe. You’d just need to pay for shipping the Lifton case. If not I’ll pack it as best I can and I’m sure it will arrive safe. I’d just rather have piece of mind over a piece of Lifton cardboard lol.

Our most complete Makeover for Gibson Historics. We steam out the neck and reset with hot hide glue. On all guitars, we re-carve the top to vintage spec, reshape the neck to vintage "C" shape, and use hot hide glue to install a Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard with correct binding ledge and inlay routs. We inlay the fingerboard with our exclusive 1950's style cellulose nitrate inlays, and install frets. The fingerboard and guitar body are bound with our Royalite binding and the fingerboard binding edges are rolled. The guitar is completely refinished with aniline dyes and unplasticized nitro-cellulose lacquer in one of our vintage correct finishes.

Thepackage includes a Vintage Patina weather-checking and aging. We also re-stamp the serial number in a correct 50's typeface.

We can replace the factory MOP logo with one in a vintage correct font, using correct placement and orientation based on the year of the guitar.
