1961 F.E. Olds Super Trumpet – Fullerton – SN 379741 – Original Case + Yamaha 11B4 Mouthpiece + Protec 3-Piece Pouch

A very nice-playing, mechanically strong example of a 1961 Fullerton-era F.E. Olds Super.
This is a true player's horn. I have owned and actively played this trumpet myself and have taken very good care of it. It has been regularly cleaned, maintained and oiled, and it has been kept and played at home.

The reason I am selling it is simply that I am reducing and reorganizing my trumpet collection. There is no functional problem prompting the sale.

MECHANICAL CONDITION:
The mechanical condition of this trumpet is excellent for its age.
• Pistons/valves move quickly, smoothly and consistently.• Very good valve return with no sluggishness.• Strong compression.• All tuning slides move freely and smoothly.• Valve action is quick and responsive.• No known functional issues.• The trumpet is completely playable and ready to go.
In actual playing, this horn has very good response, intonation and slotting. It is an easy, responsive player with a particularly nice compact, focused character.

TONAL CHARACTER:
This particular Olds Super has a beautiful vintage Fullerton sound.
Compared with some Olds Super examples, this one has a somewhat darker, warmer and more closed-in character. It has plenty of color and personality without sounding excessively bright or aggressive.
The sound has a focused, slightly smoky vintage quality that works especially well for jazz, small-group playing, section work, commercial playing and general-purpose playing.
The tonal character is one of the main reasons I have enjoyed owning this horn.

COSMETIC CONDITION:
Please study all photos carefully.
This is a 1961 instrument, and the original finish naturally shows substantial age-related wear and lacquer loss. There is significant lacquer wear/loss in various areas, particularly around the valve section and other areas that have naturally seen handling over the decades.
Importantly, I do not see significant dents, dings, impact damage or obvious structural deformation on the instrument. The cosmetic wear is primarily the original finish having aged and worn over the decades.
The valve casings and main body appear to be in good physical condition.
This is not a cosmetically pristine collector piece. It is a well-maintained, fully functional vintage player's trumpet whose appearance honestly reflects its age and history.

ORIGINAL CASE:
The original Olds hard case is included.
The case is in usable condition for its age and remains suitable for storing and transporting the trumpet. Please see the photos for its exact cosmetic condition.

INCLUDED ACCESSORIES:
Also included with the trumpet:
• Yamaha 11B4 trumpet mouthpiece• Black Protec three-piece trumpet mouthpiece pouch
These accessories are included as part of the sale and are not being represented as new.

SERIAL NUMBER / YEAR:
Serial number 379741 places this trumpet in the 1961 Fullerton production period.

BACKGROUND:
The F.E. Olds Super is one of the classic professional trumpets produced during the Fullerton era. This example retains the characteristic Olds design and playing qualities while offering a particularly attractive vintage sound and very strong mechanical performance.
I have enjoyed playing this trumpet and have kept it well maintained. I am selling it only because I am simplifying and reorganizing my collection.
For someone looking for a genuine Fullerton-era Olds Super that is mechanically strong, fully functional, and ready to play, this is a very solid example.

Please look carefully at all photos, especially the lacquer wear, and feel free to message me with any questions.
