Rare Vintage Framus Gaucho (1960s) – Special Edition Solid Wood w/ Flamed Maple Back

Up for sale is an incredibly unique and highly rare Framus Gaucho acoustic guitar. Unlike standard production line models, this particular instrument features a distinctive, much higher-quality build with non-standard hardware and exquisite tonewoods. It is a genuine, heavily sought-after vintage treasure for players and collectors alike.

The Framus Legacy & Build Quality

Founded in 1946, Framus was once Europe’s largest guitar manufacturer, famed for robust, innovative instruments crafted in Bavaria, Germany. Legendary artists from Paul McCartney to Bill Wyman have played their guitars. Modern and vintage Framus models are celebrated for their character and historical significance.

Special Tonewood Combination:

Top: Solid Spruce (Fichte) for a clear, dynamic, and resonant acoustic tone.

Sides (Zargen): Mahogany for warm mids and rich sustain.

Back: Stunning, heavily figured Flamed Maple (Riegelahorn) with a beautiful natural grain pattern.

Special Hardware: Features unusual, original open-gear tuners and hardware specs differing from the typical Gaucho series.

Features, Setup & Playability:

Brand New Frets & Excellent Playability: The guitar has just been professionally refretted. The frets have plenty of life left for decades to come. They have been carefully leveled so that the guitar achieves a fantastic, highly comfortable action of approx. 1.8 mm at the 12th fret. It is incredibly easy and relaxed to play!

Adjustable Wooden Bridge: Unlike many acoustic guitars with fixed saddles, this model comes with its unique adjustable bridge (with thumb screws) allowing you to fine-tune the action height precisely to your preference.

Fresh Treatment & Restring: Fully cleaned, fretboard conditioned/oiled, and freshly set up with a brand-new set of high-quality strings. It is entirely ready to play out of the box!

Honest Vintage Note:

The Neck Angle: Over decades, the neck of this old lady has angled slightly to the left. Practically, this means the strings do not align 100% perfectly parallel to the edges of the fretboard (they drift slightly off-center). Importantly: Because of the excellent 1.8 mm low-action setup and the brand-new frets, this has no impact on its great playability or tone. It's an honest piece of vintage history that functions wonderfully.
