Guild D-4 1991 - 1994 - Satin Natural PROJECT
This is a 1994 USA (Westerly, RI) made Guild D4 dreadnought acoustic that is playable and sounds lovely, but I am listing it as a project. Prior owners have tightened the truss rod so much that the truss rod nut is sunk into the headstock nearly to the string nut. A bit of the wood above the string nut is chipped out to allow such extreme adjustment. I believe a knowledgeable luthier could put some washers under the truss rod nut and possibly allow some further adjustability. That said, the guitar is quite playable now, with more relief than I would personally like and an action of ~3.25 mm at the 12th fret, a bit higher than I would want but not difficult to play. There is also a hole in the side of the guitar on the bass side, many dings and small chips, and extensive finish checking. The saddle is low and probably can’t be sanded down much more. All that said, the rest of the guitar is solid and it really does sound great. Frets have some wear but have plenty of height left on them. Comes with a nice Guild soft case with neck rest inside. I am including a fresh pack of strings too. Please see all photos for accurate condition. I think this can be rescued by a good luthier and enjoyed further, but it is listed as a project and priced accordingly low for a 32-year old USA made Guild. I am happy to answer any questions you may have.
