This one hits different the second you open the case. All-mahogany City Limits with a perfectly executed doghair finish that sets it apart from everything else in the category.

The checking is deep, even, and crazed throughout the nitro in a way that’s hard to capture in photos but looks alive in person - subtle crackle over a dark mahogany top and back. The pore-filled grain has real depth to it against the ink-black finish. The ivoroid binding is clean and bright against it, and the overall fit and finish is on a level most other boutique builders can’t touch. The neck-to-body joint is a perfect example. The seam where the neck meets the body is finished cleanly over the binding with zero gaps or rough edges - just tight, intentional work.

The neck itself is a sweet spot C: something between a Gibson R9 V1 and V2. Not thick on paper, but it feels full and supportive in the hand while still playing fast. The finish on the back of the neck is excellent - smooth, not sticky, and fast without feeling worn-in. Ebony knobs have real weight and feel great under the fingers.

Tone is pure mahogany cannon. Resonant and open unplugged, then thick, vocal, and powerful plugged in. The Lollar Imperial humbuckers deliver that classic midrange punch with clarity and sustain that doesn’t get muddy - plenty of cut on the high strings and a fat low end that still speaks. It has that “more guitar than it looks” presence once you hit a note.

Condition is excellent with very little, if any, real signs of use. No fret wear, no dings, no major finish issues beyond the intentional checking. It still presents like a new Collings.
