This pedal is a faithful reproduction of the preamp circuit found in the early solid-state Maestro Echoplex EP-3 tape echo. Back in the day, players like Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, and Brian May would often run their signal through an EP-3 with the echo turned completely off, purely for the way its preamp thickened and sweetened their base tone.

The Epoch Boost puts that exact preamp circuit into a pedal format. It is designed to be an "always-on" sweetener, a dedicated clean boost, or a high-quality line buffer.

The Tech Details:

• The Preamp: Even with the Boost knob rolled entirely off, the Preamp control gives you the baseline EP-3 tone. As you turn it past 12 o'clock, it adds subtle EQ shifts, upper-end harmonics, and mild compression.
• The Boost: The secondary Boost control adds up to 20dB of crystal-clear gain to push your amp.
• NOS Parts: The circuit uses NOS Sprague Orange Drop capacitors and an output mixer stage acting as a rudimentary frequency selector to match the vintage units.
• High Headroom: It takes a standard 9V center-negative power supply, but internally boosts the voltage to 22V for massive headroom and clarity.
• Internal Buffer: Features an internally switchable hi-Z input buffer, allowing it to act as a standalone buffer to prevent high-frequency treble loss in long cable runs or packed pedalboards.
