Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a unique older Astatic model D-104 crystal microphone from the late 1960's or 1970's that comes with a period Astatic F-11 lower adapter shown in which to operate.

Pic # 2 is from my 1945 microphone catalog and shows the mics specs and cost. The D-104 hasn't really changed much since then and is probably the longest selling model in the history of microphones.

The D-104 was manufactured by Astatic in Conneaut, Ohio and was to be used as a public address mic as it's non-directional. It was a very popular design for this company and they continued to make the D-104 for many decades retaining the same overall style but this was a D-104 with the later model glued on aluminum badge. This earlier version has the riveted badge. A very cool piece in very good cosmetic condition that would be excellent for display or prop purposes.

The mic does work but the signal strength is only about 70% if that and so you need to get in real close or turn up the gain. You can use it but I have heard stronger examples.

The mic still has the original element. You can always replace the element with a stronger D-104 element if you plan on using the mic or even mod the mic with a dynamic element.

The polished chrome body has virtually no wear and free of any dings or dents. I would rate the cosmetic condition a very conservative 9 + out of 1 - 10 and the Astatic badge is completely legible as well. This mic is a real gem.

The mic comes with an lower F-11 adapter and comes with a short original 4 foot cable that is soft, pliable and free of damage. Very clean and has a vintage male Switchcraft 1/4 inch end connector.

The measurements with F-11 and mic are 6 1/2 inches in height X 3 inches wide. The F-11 will allow you to screw this on to any desk or floor stand you have.

A very cool piece that will draw attention anywhere it's shown.

MICROPHONE STAND ARE NOT PART OF THIS SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.

As with all my vintage microphones for sale...
