A Note on the Custom Shop Designation
Gibson’s Memphis Historic Reissues were frequently sold and advertised as Memphis Custom Shop instruments, and you’ll find contemporary dealer listings using that designation.
For clarity, this is the premium Memphis-built 1963 Reissue, not a Nashville Custom Shop Historic model. It shares many of the vintage-oriented construction features and appointments associated with Gibson’s higher-end Historic instruments.
Final Thoughts
The Memphis ’63 Reissues are fantastic instruments that capture much of the feel, responsiveness, and character of an early-1960s ES-335 without the vintage price tag.
A great opportunity to own a well-documented example from this highly regarded period of Gibson ES production.
