2009 Gibson Custom Shop ES-339 Gloss Cherry Red - Memphis Made - w/OHSC & COA - All Original

This beautiful 2009 Gibson Custom Shop ES-339 in Cherry Red was built at Gibson's legendary Memphis facility during the early years of ES-339 production.

Introduced in 2007, the ES-339 combines the legendary tone and character of the ES-335 with a smaller, more comfortable body. It delivers that unmistakable Gibson semi-hollow warmth, resonance, and sustain in a guitar that feels closer in size to a Les Paul.

Early ES-339 models like this one were produced at Gibson's Memphis facility under the Custom Shop designation, before the company eventually moved its ES production to Nashville. The Memphis factory became particularly well known for its semi-hollow and hollow-body instruments, and these early Custom Shop-branded examples represent a special chapter in Gibson's history.

Unlike later regular-production ES-339 models, this guitar carries the original Custom Shop designation, CS-prefix serial number, and Custom Shop Certificate of Authenticity. Its early Memphis production, original documentation, and classic Cherry Red finish make it a particularly appealing example.

Condition: Excellent - All Original!

This guitar has been exceptionally well preserved and remains in excellent overall condition, especially considering its age. The beautiful translucent Cherry Red nitrocellulose finish looks fantastic, with very little visible cosmetic wear.

There are a few extremely faint hairline cracks in the lacquer finish, which can naturally develop over time as nitrocellulose lacquer ages. They are barely noticeable under normal lighting but can be seen in the photos upon close inspection. Everything remains completely original, including the pickups, electronics, hardware, and finish. No modifications.

The guitar comes complete with its original Gibson hardshell case and Gibson Custom Shop Certificate of Authenticity (COA).

A fantastic example of an early Memphis-built Gibson ES-339, combining classic Gibson tone, exceptional playability, and the heritage of the original Memphis Custom Shop era.

The following work has been done: full cleaning, lemon oil fretboard treatment, fret spot leveling/polishing and string height setup (2.3 mm at the 12th fret on the low E string), pickup height adjusted for balance and clarity, and a fresh set of D'Addario XL 10/46 strings installed.
