1996 Guild X-170 Manhattan, built at the Westerly, Rhode Island factory — the era and plant Guild collectors actually look for. Interior label reads Model X-170 BL; serial AK170256 (also stamped on the back of the headstock).
The natural blonde finish has ambered evenly over the figured maple — that warm aged-gold look you can't buy new. All original: Seymour Duncan SD-1 pickups, engraved Guild harp trapeze tailpiece, wooden bridge, and Grover Imperial tuners. Four pots — separate volume and tone for each pickup — all in great working order.
Condition — the headline: the binding is fully intact with NO cracks. Anyone who knows these guitars knows binding failure is the X-170's known weakness; this one doesn't have it. No breaks, no repairs. What it does have is honest wear: patina/tarnish on the gold pickup covers (most visible on the bridge pickup) and a little road wear around the edges. Plays beautifully.
Provenance detail: the original dealer sticker from Monty's Music in Scottsdale, AZ is still on the back of the headstock — left in place, as it should be.
Original Guild hardshell case included — leather over wood with burgundy plush lining; the case shows some road wear on its brass and leather, like any case that actually did its job.
Ships free to the continental US in its hardshell case, strings detuned, packed properly and insured. Selling to thin a collection — happy to answer any questions.
