Minty Catalinbread Formula 51 pedal with box and sticker.

This pedal was fully tested and works as it should with no issues.

The Catalinbread Formula 51 is an amp-in-a-box overdrive pedal that recreates the vintage touch, feel, and compressed grit of a 1950s Fender 5F1 "Tweed Champ" amplifier.

Key Features & Design

• Real Amp Architecture: Unlike standard overdrive circuits, it incorporates a preamp, a discrete power amp simulator, and a true output transformer to mimic how a real small-box tube combo reacts.
• Control Layout: Expands on the original single-volume Tweed Champ design with four interactive knobs:
• • Volume: Sets the overall output level and boost.
  • Gain: Controls how hard the signal hits the power amp/transformer, moving from clean-ish grit to blown-out distortion.
  • Tone: Features a vintage-inspired mid-scoop control (modeled after the Framus Cobra amp) that shifts the mid-forward Tweed profile into a mid-scooped "Blackface" sound.
  • Sag: Loads down the transformer to introduce a squishy, spongy, or compressed feel reminiscent of a dying battery or maxed-out tube stage.
• Power Requirements: Can run on 9V up to 18V. Running at 9V yields a looser, growlier response, while 18V increases headroom, clarity, and tightness.
