Twenty Four 000-45s were made in 1936 by the CF Martin Company, and this one is a survivor. This offering is available "AS-IS" due to the need of a new bridge and neck reset; but all technical information is listed in the "Specs" tab. The "45 style appointments cost a significant premium when produced during the height of the depression, so production numbers on these are inherently low. The abalone bound Brazilian Rosewood back and side set exhibits exceptional figure for a straighter/stable orientation. At some point in this guitar's life, it had oversized double (left and right) pickguards installed, as well as a pickup, so one could imagine it was a country music singer's stage instrument. A full dark refinish and other structural abnormalities keeps the body from returning to factory specifications, but the character is certainly there. A replacement neck was installed (likely in the 1980s), for unknown reasons, but it's a comfortable shape and matches the styling of the 1930s decently. 000-45s are rare to find in any condition, perhaps this one checks all the boxes for you!Comes in modern HSC Top: Adirondack w/ Forward Scalloped X-Bracing Back and Sides: Brazilian Rosewood Neck/Fingerboard: (Replacement) Mahogany/ Ebony Bridge Material: Ebony Tuners: Modern Waverly (evidence of Grover rotomatics) Neck Profile: C to Soft V Neck Depth: .843"- 1.032" Scale Length: 24.9" Radius: 16" Nut Width: 1.71" String Spacing at Saddle: 2.13" Contains Brazilian Rosewood (Y/N): Y Electronics: (None Currently, but plugged jack hole in lower treble rim) Case: Modern HSC Modifications/Repairs: Full Refinish, Replacement Neck without side dots (likely from 1980s) with Indian Rosewood veneer, Scarring/Tearout from oversized double pickguards, overized replacement maple bridgeplate with cap, reglued x-brace on either side of bridgeplate, top cracks along fingerboard extension with 4 cleats, cracks through rosette with spliced in purfling, neck block slipped and reglued, jack plug in lower treble rim, dimpling/waviness in lower back from water damage, biding section replaced on treble side lower bout, shaved down bridge, finish delamination forward the bridge, replacement pickguard, vintage pins Tech Notes: This guitar is sold As-Is-- Neck is Underset w/ Bass side action at 12th being 8/64" and Treble being 6/64" and the saddle height at center is 5/64ths, bridge has crack running between pins (would need replaced with healthy full sized example before a neck reset is performed.
