Overstayer Modular Channel 8755DM Stereo Channel Strip March 2022

Up for sale is my Overstayer Modular Channel 8755DM, hand-built in Los Angeles. It was in my studio and has hardly been used. I loved this unit, but I’ve moved country and it’s now sitting unused in an empty room. It deserves to be in a rack and making records.

Anyone who has tried to buy one knows how hard they are to find. It took me a long time to track this one down because of stock issues, so this is a chance to skip the wait.

• All controls, switches and meters work perfectly
• Comes from a smoke-free, pet-free studio
• Includes the original Overstayer box and packaging with the factory model and serial label

About the unit

This is a full stereo channel in 2U. You can use it as a stereo or dual-mono tracking channel, or on mix bus and stems.

• Inputs: mic, line and instrument, with separate left and right gain and phantom power
• Bandwidth control: high-pass and low-pass filters with adjustable peak
• Frequency control: bass, a sweepable presence band and switchable treble
• Amplitude control: compressor with behaviour, threshold (pull for RMS), release and makeup (pull for SC filter), plus a ceiling control and sidechain routing
• Amplifier section: drive and saturation with MAS, SAT and REX modes
• Parallel blend: separate dry, compression and saturation feeds for mixing the processing in
• Routing: each section (filter, EQ, compressor) can be switched in or out, and there’s an insert

It sounds thick and full of character without getting muddy. It’s one of the most musical pieces I’ve owned.
