Available now is a true masterpiece from the Gibson Custom Shop: this 2013 Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue, with a Heavy Aged finish and featuring a hand-selected, stunning flame maple top. One of the most picturesque and convincingly vintage-looking examples we’ve ever had the pleasure of coming across.
Included with the guitar are the original brown Lifton hard case, Certificate of Authenticity, accompanying paperwork and original tag.
According to Gibson, this has a “handpicked top, picked by a former Category Product Specialist, back in 2013 and it seems there are only 2 of them.” (We have the email correspondence, if you would like to see it.)
Hard to really put it down as “limited run” considering there are now so many aged variants of the R9 but regardless of it apparent exclusivity—just look at it!
Made in 2013, this is a pre-Murphy Lab example, so has been aged using the old school “razor blade” technique. The finish completely intact, not flaking and looks just as good, if not better than the current modern aging technique at the Gibson Custom Shop.. (Sorry Murphy Lab owners!)
In excellent overall condition, this example has light, authentic play-wear entirely consistent with the Heavy Aged finish. The guitar is free from breaks, repairs or structural issues, while the frets, hardware and electronics are all in excellent working order.
The guitar is 100% original and untouched.
Specs include: '59 profile neck, Burstbucker 2 & 3, with an open-coil "zebra" in the bridge.
Weight is 8.7lbs.
