Yamaha YOB-241 Oboe – Excellent Condition, Freshly Serviced, Perfectly In Tune, Ready to Play, Priced to Sell

This Yamaha YOB-241 oboe is in excellent playing shape, and it sounds incredible. It went through a full professional service, I checked it afterward, and it’s in tune. The keys move freely, the octave keys work cleanly, and nothing feels sticky or half-adjusted. The pads are sealing, and the response is even from the low end up through the middle. The tone is that familiar Yamaha student oboe voice — clear, centered, and easy to sit in a band with instead of fighting the section.

Soft notes still speak instead of dying, and it stays together when you put more air through it. The half-hole notes stay usable, and the upper end doesn’t fall apart the way an out-of-adjustment oboe does. Nothing about the mechanism feels lazy. After the service it doesn’t feel like an oboe that still needs a shop visit before rehearsal. You can put a reed on and play.

The YOB-241 is Yamaha’s student oboe, the model a lot of middle school and early high school programs put in kids’ hands. ABS resin body, so it doesn’t crack the way a wood oboe can, silver-plated keys, a simplified Conservatoire system, and semi-automatic octave keys. It’s built for steady pitch and a comfortable feel, not for the extra keys on a 411 or 421. Directors like these because they hold adjustment and don’t turn into a project halfway through the year. These stay consistent once they’re actually set up, which this one is. Serial 050817.

If you want an excellent YOB-241 that’s already been fully serviced, in tune, and sounds incredible, this one’s ready. It’s priced to sell. Happy to answer questions!
