The Martin O’ahu TKE Uke Burst is a premium tenor ukulele introduced in 2026 as the first ukulele in Martin’s O’ahu family. It combines traditional Hawaiian-inspired materials with modern stage-ready electronics.

• Tenor size: Martin’s largest ukulele body size, giving it more volume, projection, and low-end presence than a concert or soprano uke.
• Solid spruce top: The top has a warm burst/sunburst finish, with the darker edges fading toward the center. It gives the instrument a vintage, Hawaiian-inspired appearance.
• Solid koa back and sides: Hawaiian koa contributes warmth, clarity, and attractive natural wood character. The combination of spruce and koa should give it a somewhat brighter, more articulate voice than Martin's all-koa TKE.
• Low-G setup: It comes with Martin’s new O’ahu Low G strings, including a silver-wound Low G. That gives the tenor a noticeably deeper, more guitar-like range and makes it particularly appealing to guitar players.
• Mi-Si Simple Jack electronics: The built-in preamp is battery-free. A 60-second charge provides up to 16 hours of plugged-in playing, which is a particularly nice feature for live performance.
• 17-inch scale: The tenor scale gives you a little more room between frets and contributes to the fuller sound.
• Rosewood fingerboard and bridge, select hardwood neck, nickel open-gear tuners, TUSQ nut and saddle, and 20 frets.
• Gloss body / satin neck: The gloss finish really emphasizes the burst and koa, while the satin neck should feel quick and smooth in the hand.
• Softshell case included.

How I'd characterize the sound

I'd expect this particular TKE to have a clear, warm, punchy tenor voice with more depth than a conventional high-G uke. The spruce top should give it good note definition and responsiveness, while the koa back and sides add warmth and harmonic color. The Low G makes it especially interesting for fingerpicking, melodic playing, jazzier chord voicings, and guitar-style arrangements.
