The LL16-12 is one of the high-quality, all-solid timber models from Yamaha’s time-honored L Series and combines classic Japanese acoustic guitar design with modern manufacturing precision. The generous LL Original Jumbo body shape is designed for high volume, projection, and a wide frequency range—qualities that are particularly impressive on a 12-string acoustic guitar.

A special feature is the solid Engelmann spruce top with Yamaha’s A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement) treatment. This special process is designed to give the wood, right from the factory, the tonal qualities of a soundboard that has been played in over a long period of time. Combined with solid rosewood for the back and sides, the LL16-12 produces a big, open sound with a powerful bass foundation, brilliant highs, and the characteristic, shimmering overtone spectrum of a high-quality 12-string. Chords sound broad and spacious, while individual notes remain clearly defined.

For amplified playing, the Yamaha features a passive SRT piezo pickup system that effortlessly transmits the characteristic 12-string sound to amplifiers, PA systems, or recording equipment. Visually, the natural Engelmann spruce top is elegantly complemented by multi-layer maple bindings, the elaborate rosette with an abalone center, and the classic tortoise pickguard.

The mahogany neck, double-reinforced with rosewood, ensures high stability and sits comfortably in the hand thanks to its pleasant “C” profile. The generous nut width of 46 mm provides ample space for clean fingering, while the bound ebony fingerboard with its abalone dot inlays underscores the instrument’s high-quality character. The Grover Rotomatic Mini tuners represent a high-quality upgrade and allow for precise tuning of the twelve strings.

Visually, the guitar features a classic natural high-gloss finish that beautifully highlights the grain of the woods.
