The Schecter C-1 Platinum Blackout is essentially a dark, metal-focused version of Schecter’s C-1 Platinum, built around active EMG pickups, fast playability, and an all-black aesthetic. It’s aimed particularly at hard rock, metal, and players who like aggressive, modern tones.

🎸 Main features

• Body: Mahogany, with a contoured C-1 double-cutaway shape.
• Finish: Satin black with blacked-out hardware—probably its most distinctive feature.
• Neck: Maple with a Thin C profile, designed to feel fast without being extremely flat or thin.
• Fingerboard: Ebony.
• Frets: 24 jumbo/extra-jumbo frets, giving you plenty of room for lead playing.
• Scale: 25.5", the familiar Fender-style scale length.
• Neck construction: Set neck with Schecter's Ultra Access heel/cutaway, making the upper frets considerably easier to reach.

🔥 The EMG 81/85 combination

This is the heart of the guitar

EMG 81 — bridge: Tight, aggressive, articulate, and compressed. It's particularly good for distorted rhythm playing, palm-muted riffs, and high-gain lead work. It has the familiar "modern metal" sound—lots of attack and clarity rather than a loose, vintage response.

EMG 85 — neck: Warmer and thicker than the 81. It's excellent for lead tones, sustained notes, and heavier neck-position sounds. The 81/85 pairing is a classic combination for metal guitars.

They're active pickups, so the guitar uses a 9V battery.

🎛️ Hardware

The Blackout uses a Tune-o-matic-style bridge, with string-through-body construction, plus TonePros tuners. It also uses a Graph Tech TUSQ nut. These features are intended to provide good tuning stability, sustain, and accurate intonation.

🎵 What does it sound like?

I'd characterize it as:

Tight → aggressive → compressed → clear → high-output

It's particularly suited to:

• Metalcore
• Modern metal
• Thrash
• Hard rock
• Progressive metal
• Drop-tuned riffing
• High-gain lead playing
