ESP LTD B-204SM Fretless Bass in Natural Satin

ESP LTD B-204SM Fretless Bass in Natural Satin

The B-204SM is a purpose-built fretless bass engineered for players who demand articulate intonation control and expressive tonal range. Its roasted jatoba fingerboard, passive/active electronics, and ergonomic neck design eliminate compromise between playability and sonic character. This is serious fretless instrumentation for musicians who understand the technique's demands.

Tone & Electronics

Passive ESP-designed SB-4N and SB-4B pickups capture the ash body and spalted maple top's natural resonance, while the active 3-band EQ (volume, balance, and ABQ-3 tone control) provides sculpting power without sacrificing the instrument's core fretless character. The LTD BB-604 string-through bridge with black nickel hardware maximizes sustain and clarity—essential for articulate fretless playing.

Playability & Construction

The 5-piece maple/jatoba neck with extra thin U contour minimizes hand fatigue during extended sessions, while the roasted jatoba fingerboard provides natural durability ideal for fretless technique. A 400mm fingerboard radius and 40mm molded nut deliver balanced feel and comfortable string spacing across all positions, supported by 24 fret markers that guide intonation without visual clutter.
